Krishnaveny Raju (Malaysia) is a human resources specialist with over 30 years of experience in the United Nations system, including leadership roles across country offices and global service centers. Her work has focused on strategic HR management, organizational transitions, workforce planning, and policy implementation in complex operating environments.
She has led human resources and talent management teams for several UNDP country offices, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, and has undertaken numerous consultancy assignments. In these roles, she has provided operational HR advisory services, supported high-volume recruitments, advised on contractual arrangements, and contributed to system improvements in staffing, entitlements, and workflow design.
From 2008 to 2010, and from 2012 to 2015, Krishnaveny served as Head of Human Resources at UNDP Afghanistan, overseeing HR operations for over 1,000 personnel. She led national and international HR teams, managed large-scale recruitment and contract reform processes, developed internal procedures, and advised senior management on complex HR issues, including audits, misconduct, and post-crisis staffing. Her portfolio also included performance management, staff development, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution, with a focus on compliance and continuity.
At the regional and global levels, she has supported strengthening HR systems through assignments with UNDP in Ukraine, UNDP’s Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery (BCPR), and the World Health Organization’s Global Service Centre in Malaysia.
Krishnaveny began her UN career in 1985 with UNDP Malaysia, where she spent nearly two decades focusing on recruitment, entitlements administration, and HR policy advisory. She also served on secondment with peacekeeping missions in Eastern Slavonia and East Timor, where she managed fast-paced national and international recruitment under mission-critical timelines.
She holds an MBA from Southern Cross University, a Certificate in Personnel Management from the Malaysian Institute of Personnel Management, and a Certificate in Training and Development from the University of Leicester. She has completed UNDP’s e-Cornell HR certification and is trained in PRINCE2 methodologies. Her technical skills include using ERP systems such as PeopleSoft (ATLAS) and Oracle Cloud (Quantum). She works fluently in English, Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia, Tamil, and Malayalam.
