Claudine Nagiah (United Kingdom) is an expert in implementing social and environmental standards, with over twenty years of international experience in sustainability, safeguards, and responsible development. Claudine has supported UN agencies, international donors, NGOs, and private sector organizations across Asia and the Pacific, Africa, Europe, and Latin America in integrating and operationalizing social and environmental risk management frameworks within various programming contexts.

Since 2021, she has worked extensively with UNDP in the Asia-Pacific region to implement the Social and Environmental Standards (SES) in projects. She provides hands-on technical support, ensures the quality assurance of safeguard instruments, and designs and delivers training programs. Her role encompasses the entire safeguards project lifecycle, concentrating on early screening and risk assessment. Claudine has also contributed to periodic monitoring and internal reviews of safeguards compliance and implementation quality, establishing quality benchmarks across multiple portfolios. 

In other assignments, Claudine has focused on ensuring quality standards and safeguards for environmental and climate initiatives, including high conservation value assessments, rapid environmental assessments, and sustainability and ESG alignment strategies for tourism businesses. Her work with the EU-Switch Asia Programme, the HCV Resource Network, Wild Asia, and UNESCO reflects a career rooted in standards compliance and responsible environmental and social performance.

Claudine uses a pragmatic, stakeholder-focused approach grounded in empirical research and institutional capacity building.
